Very hit and miss. First time we went the menu was great and so was the quality. Subsequent visits the choice as got smaller which usually means less for chefs to deal with, better quality. Not so the standards also dropped. I had a 9 pork loin roast, I have had economy ready meal roasts that have tasted better than that. Chewy flavourless meat and what they were passing as crackling was a confusing tile with a possible trip to the dentist for anyone trying to explore its mystery. Our waitress buggered off home half way through which is fine if her shift ended; what is not fine is she did no hand off. As a result service became long and drawn out and full of mistakes, worst of which was our bill which had been tallied wrong. I mean if I was more of an argumentative person I would have been arguing the costing of my ready meal. But I settled with just paying the correct amount and a lesson learned that I should have cooked at home. It would have been cheaper, faster and better quality.I will end on a positive note however, and why they deserve to get 2 stars not 1, their selection of drinks seems very good and the place has a really nice atmosphere especially when it's summer.

lovely here. food always gorgeous. lovely atmosphere. on this particular Wednesday night visit, we were told it would be an hour and a half wait, which didn't suit us, but can't put a place down cause they are busy. lol

Very nice pub.. Lovely staff.. Food excellent.. Loving the new menu.. The sticky Toffee Pudding is gorgeous needs a bigger dollop of ice cream tho

Well worth a visit is this beautifully presented restaurant with good food and ambience. We met friends here a d the log fires and Christmas decorations gave a lovely warm feeling. The food we ate was from the lunch menu and was very good value for money.

We had a gorgeous afternoon walk and called in at 3.30pm for food. Julie served us. She was cheery, attentive very good at customer service allowing us to browse the menu then came to place our order. Her professional service of delicious food. I had the turkey roast dinner and my husband chose red wine/steak pie. We were very impressed as they came speedily, piping hot, delicious veg cooked perfectly. We came to the malt house 3 years ago and we were very impressed. The chef has nailed it. Grrat service, delicious hot food, create menu well priced. The malt house looked amazing twinkly lights, beautiful Christmas trees, roaring real fire. Excellent atmosphere. We will definitely return. Well done to all the Team. Brilliant.
